About Julie

I grew up in a large family. My father was very active growing up in a small town and lettered in almost every sport. After he got married he joined the army where he had to stay in shape. I remember being fairly young and going to watch him run in 5k’s. I started playing soccer in 6th grade and played throughout high school and then after high school I started running to keep in shape. Throughout my teens I played in church and rec leagues of softball and basketball. Many times being on championship teams (mostly in basketball). In my teens for church we would go to a girls camp for a week in the mountains (yes even cold showers and no swimming in the lake because of leeches) I believe I went 6 years. After highschool I started hanging out with some new friends that I met in a outdoor class. In this class we would go hiking, birdwatching, xc-skiing, and various other activites. We continued doing these outdoor activities together. We also began playing roller hockey nightly and joined a league. I think I played 2 seasons and then it grew to be to competive and I stopped playing. I have run 3 5k’s improving my time each time I ran. I have continued playing coed softball with my friends and I have played indoor soccer most recently. Growing up every year my family would go on a vacation usually to a nearby National Park or a mountain lake and camp. These experineces instilled in me love for going to new places and being active. I hope to carry on the tradtion of going on vacations every year forever.

One of my newest hobbies is refinishing furniture. I have refinished our kitchen table and part of a hutch. I also have redone some folding chairs and a folding table I got from my grandmothers house when we cleaned it out. I figure its still good why not make it look better and save it from the dump and save myself some money. I’am one of those annoying people that commision store workers hate cause I walk straight back to the clearance rack to find what i’m looking for or to find a super sweet deal. When I do find that super sweet deal I usaully can’t wait to tell someone else about it.
Since getting married I have learned how to cook. I didn’t even know how to fry an egg (mostly because we had boiled eggs growing up.) This is quite ironic because my mother was a home-ec teacher. I love trying new recipes and don’t taste it till we sit down at the table. I cook mainly using recipes but some things I feel comfortable with and put my own twist on them.

That’s Julie !!!!
